Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror in the Hatchet Series. It follows the story of Victor Crowley's ongoing adventures and his rampage through Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder plays Victor Crowley and Brian Quinn is Deputy Winslow. Rileah Vanderbilt plays Misty.



The practical effects in the film are the film's biggest strengths. Hatchet 3 is a horror film that employs CG effects in a lesser degree than other films. Hatchet 3 has a lot of practical makeup effects and sets, which results in some really horrific scenes throughout the film.

The cast delivers a strong performance, with Kane Hodder being the most terrifying villain. The (blog) dialogue is sufficiently campy and tongue-in-cheek for it to be reminiscent of a classic 1980s slasher film at moments. Additionally, there are some really funny moments throughout that offer humor against the horror-inducing action.

Unfortunately, due to the small budget (1 million dollars) most locations were duplicates of earlier films. The boat house in Hatchet 2 was only used once and the rest of the footage feels like it's been reused from earlier films. It's almost like it's familiar to those who've seen Hatchet or Hatchet 2.

Overall, Hatchet 3 was enjoyable, even though it felt very similar in tone to previous installments within the series. It was filled with gory thrills as well as some entertaining performances from its actors.
